Bible Society of Kenya will officially launch the USSD *288# platform on Sunday September 9th 2018 at Redeemed Gospel Church in Huruma.
This platform will allow low income earners who cannot afford to buy a Bible once to pay in installments. It will also help the people who live in rural areas and cannot access digital Bibles or a bookshop to access the Bible conveniently at the click of a button.
The launch of this code will encourage availability and ownership of God’s Word to all irrespective of the geographical location or economic ability of individuals. The code can be used by all mobile phone users regardless of the type of device they own as it is SMS – based with no internet requirements.
In line with Bible Society of Kenya’s mission to make available the Holy Scriptures in affordable and innovative formats for holistic transformation of people’s lives, this platform has been launched to ensure that the word of God reaches all people through digital technology.
This move was guided by the fact that Kenya has a high level of mobile phone penetration of about 85% and the usage of the world famous mobile money services including MPESA with over 25 million people hence we hope to enhance the number of Bible ownership and purchase. This platform will also enable users to access other services including membership registration, donations and BSK programmes support.
Bible Society of Kenya seeks to address the growing need for spiritual growth among Kenyans as well as offer hope which comes from the word of God. This will ultimately lead to a balanced, peaceful and harmonious society.
