We thank God for the lives that are being transformed through the Literacy for women in Africa programme since its inception in the year 2018.
Through the generosity of our donors, BSK added 15 new classes to the current 20 existing ones totaling to 35 classes in Turkana County.
A total of 30 new teachers were added to the current 40 teachers and are set to undergo a refresher teacher training in the month of April in preparation for the classes which will begin in May 2023.
A successful pre-visit was done by a team BSK and UBS office to sample three new classes in Nadapal, Nakaporongoit and Natole centers located in Turkana Central and Turkana West respectively and an impact assessment was done in four old centers of Lokapararae, Katiko, Tiya and Kakuma.
Testimony
” I knew nothing. Attended no school and I feared books. The call for Bsk adult class opened my eyes to know the value of education. My children lied to me, the stole money through mpesa. Now it’s no more. I can read and look at their school performance. If none has written the date of class attendance? That one shows the child has lied. I have learned to deal with debtors in my business. I keep an account of their names and the amounts. The Ngaturkana Bible has positively opened my heart to forgive especially my debtors. I would encourage more women to join the class. I love the BSK t-shirt because it shows I have graduated. It’s my uniform am a brand ambassador of BSK literacy. I attended class in 2021.’’ Mrs Asinyen, 33 years, A Christian at Kaitegiro village Katiko, Turkana West.
