Bible Society of Kenya has appointed Kajiado County Assembly Speaker Hon. Johnson Osoi and Bishop Joshua Ntitika to be Goodwill Ambassadors for the Revised Maasai Bible.
The Revised Maasai Bible was launched on August 11th 2018 at the Narok Stadium and was translated in partnership with the Maasai religious leaders. The revised Bible is easy to read and understand hence there is need to make it easily accessible to the users.
The Bible Society of Kenya Chief Executive Officer Mrs. Elizabeth Muriuki, thanked Hon. Osoi and Bishop Ntitika for accepting to be Goodwill Ambassadors for the Bible. She urged the County Government of Kajiado to embrace the Word of God in their decision making and to help young children to access the Bible from a young age as it will give them direction in life. Mrs. Muriuki added that Bible Society of Kenya runs programmes that encourage Bible use at all ages with emphasis on the Programme for Pastoral Instruction which is run every week in primary schools to teach pupils the Word of God.
Mrs. Muriuki further noted that people should embrace their local languages as it promotes diversity and it gives us identity as Africans. She reiterated that when one reads the Bible in their local language it reaches their heart and they are able to relate with it and apply it in their day to day lives.
Hon. Osoi said that he was humbled to be chosen in such a noble position of promoting God’s Word and thanked the Society for such an honour. He quoted the Words of Paul in Colossians 3:23 which says; whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. He pledged that he will work closely with Bishop Ntitika in spreading the good news about the Bible in all the areas where the maa speakers are.
Hon.Osoi added that he will join Bible Society of Kenya together with his County Assembly so as to support the work of BSK which is to avail Scriptures to all in languages they best understand.
