The wall around Jerusalem city was brought down when the Babylonians attacked Israelites and took them to exile. After the exile, the Israelites led by Prophet Nehemiah reconstructed the wall. Every family was assigned a gate to rebuild until the whole wall was completed, safe for Jerusalem inhabitants. Interestingly this huge project only took them 52 days!

Reflections

Ø Working together lightens the burden of the work God has for us.

Ø Everyone’s work is important and shouldn’t be despised.

Ø Work is completed faster when everyone plays their role diligently.

Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer derision. And I told them of the hand of my God that had been upon me for good, and of the words that the king had spoken to me. And they said, “Let us rise and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work. (Nehemiah 2:17-18)
