A team from BSK held a successful mission in Maralal, Samburu County in April 2023 reaching out to different groups of people with the Word.

Open the book session during the children fun day

The first day saw the Society empowering and equipping Church leaders in Maralal on evangelism, discipleship, and Church planting through the Faith Comes by the Hearing programme which helps people to consistently listen to God’s word through audio and visual Scriptures.

On the Second day, the BSK team introduced the trauma healing programme to Compassion international field workers working in Samburu and Isiolo Counties. The participants appreciated BSK for reminding them that God heals their wounds. During the sharing and interaction sessions, the participants had a chance to share their stories and find encouragement from God’s word.

On day three, the team visited some church leaders who minister in different parts of Maralal and shared with them about BSK programmes and how they can get involved.

In addition, the Jesus film was shown to over 500 people in Maralal town. The high turnout of people to watch the film demonstrated the hunger and thirst they had for God. Over 100 people gave their lives to Christ, and we thank God for the privilege we have to share His word in languages that people can understand best.

The teenagers and youth were not left behind as we held sessions with them through the Sikika programme on day four. The Sikika programme is designed to allow young people to speak out on issues affecting them, build self-awareness, resilience, and capture the mind-set of young people so that they can face life challenges with confidence based on God’s word. We had a fruitful open session with the youth who shared their challenges and hopes that they have for the future. We encouraged them not to give up but to trust in God and to always look for mentors who can walk with them through the journey of life.

The climax of the week was the fifth day where we held a Bible Eagles Club Fun Day for children. This programme is aimed at helping children aged 18 years and below to grow in the knowledge and fear of God. The event brought together over 400 children from different parts of Maralal and its environs to came to have fun as they learned God’s word. The activities of the day included sharing God’s word by Rev. Dedan Kamau, dramatization of Scriptures by the Open the Book volunteers who dramatized three Bible stories, mentorship sessions, various outdoor games e.g., sack races, blindfolding and racing. All the children received the John portion by BSK, and they greatly appreciated the opportunity to learn, interact and make new friends.

This mission was made possible through our partnership with Compassion International. We thank God for the lives that were impacted through God’s word in Samburu County and for the team for their dedication to the mission.
