Learners happy to receive certificates

The Society held a colourful graduation ceremony on December 2nd 2022 for learners in Turkana County who completed their seven month’s training.

The 309 learners were overjoyed as they had acquired skills that would be useful in their lives. Learners testified that they are better equipped to read the Bible in their language, assist their children in their studies, conduct business transactions better, read and write and help each other in the community.

The learners who performed exceptionally well were encouraged to register with the Government through the Ministry of Adult Education in Turkana County to proceed with formal education which will enable them to learn English, Kiswahili, and Arithmetic. This progression will expose them to more opportunities in the Government and the private sector.

We thank the teachers who have worked tirelessly to ensure learners acquire skills and education in their mother tongue language despite the challenges of drought, hunger, lack of water just to mention a few.

We are grateful for the transformation being experienced through the adult literacy programme in the County. We thank our partners for their generosity in ensuring that the Turkana community is empowered.
