Bible Society of Kenya partnered with Love of Christ Foundation, a community-based organization, to feed street families in the Grogon area in Nairobi since May this year.
This programme gave us an opportunity to interact with families who have experienced homelessness and they revealed what is really like to survive on the street. Some were forced to live on the street due to unforeseen changes in their circumstances, such as dysfunctional families, losing a job, family conflict, drugs, or alcohol as an escape from their reality and looking for a sense of belonging among others.
We learned that feeding these families made many of them feel appreciated and valued. Most of them were not able to afford a meal as they ordinarily depended on hotel rubbish bins for leftovers, which had been closed due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
We enhanced our outreach to these families by showing the Jesus film and Bible study sessions and many of the families are finding hope through God’s Word. Recently we re-united seven boys to their families so that they can have a fresh start in life. This is another milestone we are celebrating after assisting a couple who lived on the street to begin a soap making business and relocated to a decent house to raise their young family.
We thank our friends and supporters who gave generously towards this initiative by giving as little as Ksh 50 as it has changed lives.
You may wonder if you can still support a family? The answer is yes. Your Ksh 50 makes a difference! You can send your contribution to Paybill 7141769 Account: Meal
