Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6(ESV).
This verse serves as a timeless reminder that our greatest achievements are rarely the result of human knowledge or intellectual prowess. In the context of Zerubbabel, who faced the daunting task of rebuilding the temple amidst political opposition and physical exhaustion, these words were a divine pivot. They shift the focus from the scarcity of resources to the abundance of God’s presence.
“Might” and “power” represent our collective human efforts, but the verse suggests that these are secondary. True, lasting transformation and the overcoming of obstacles occur through the Spirit of the Lord, which provides a strength that does not burn out under pressure.
This Scripture is an invitation to stop striving in our own limited capacity and instead lean on God. When we stop trying to muscle our way through life’s challenges, we make room for the supernatural.
By operating through the Spirit, we find a peace that transcends circumstances and an unstoppable power of God working within us.
