On June 5, 2026, the Bible Society of Kenya successfully launched its World Cup Bible Engagement campaign. The launch took place during a breakfast gathering at Parklands Baptist Church.
The event brought together dynamic youth pastors from across Nairobi and its environs to collaborate and engage the young people with God’s Word throughout the football season.
The World Cup Bible Engagement campaign is a global initiative by the United Bible Societies that leverages the appeal of football to introduce fans to God’s Word.
The campaign connects the passion of sports with Scripture through engaging activities that help individuals pray, play, and reflect on God’s word every day. These resources are available on the Bible Society of Kenya website – https://biblesociety-kenya.org/world-cup/
In addition to the online resources, the Society is engaging fans through three books that were launched during the gathering, whose content centres around football and God’s word.
The author of the books, Pastor Andrew Machina noted that this is the season when soccer fans unite globally to cheer on their teams and give undivided attention to their favourites. He emphasized the importance of sharing of the Gospel during this season because the spiritual man always needs nourishment.
The books launched were;
FAITH on the FIELD– that helps people to discover how the game of football reflects our walk of faith and daily life lessons.
HEAVEN’S JERSEY – that reflects on your divine assignment, gifting, and spiritual identity through the meaning of jersey numbers.
PRAYING THE WORLD STAGE– A call to join hands in praying for the nations of the world and the global stage of football.
The General Secretary, Mrs Elizabeth Muriuki, praised the youth pastors for their dedication to reaching young people with God’s Word. She said Scripture should always remain central, including during the football season, as it offers spiritual nourishment to both players and fans.
Our desire is to see more souls come to Christ during this World Cup season and to have more lives transformed through God’s word
