When we read John 15:9, Jesus isn’t just offering a kind sentiment; He is inviting us into a cycle of affection that started before time began. By saying, “I have loved you, just as my Father has loved me,” He sets the gold standard for a relationship.
This is a divine, steady, and sacrificial devotion. It’s a reminder that the same intensity of love God the Father has for His Son is directed at us.
Remaining faithful isn’t about striving to earn more love or living in fear of losing it; it’s about making a home in the love we’ve already been given. To remain is to let that love influence our decisions, quiet our anxieties, and ground our identity even when life feels chaotic.
Living out this verse daily means shifting our focus from “How much do I need to do for God?” to “How much do I trust God’s love for me?”
When we truly believe we are loved with the same fervour that exists within the Trinity, we become more patient with ourselves and more generous toward others, naturally overflowing with the very love we’ve chosen to abide in.
Today, let’s stay close to the heart of the One who called us His own.
