Christian parenting isn’t just about telling our kids what to believe, it’s about showing them how to live it. If you want to raise a child who truly loves Jesus, consider the following tips.

  1. Read a Bible story together with them every day- faith grows through consistency. We will not keep them from our children; we will tell the next generation about the LORD’s power and his great deeds and the wonderful things he has done. Psalm 78:4(ESV)
  2. Teach them to pray daily – let prayer be a daily habit, it will help increase their trust in God and help them to know that they can cast their cares upon the Lord. Pray without ceasing.1 Thessalonians 5:17(ESV)
  3. Show them how to serve others – Faith is not just knowledge but action. So also, faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. James 2:17(ESV)
  4. Teach them to be kind – Kindness always goes a long way. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 (ESV)
  5. Introduce a monthly memory verse – Children absorb Scripture easily when broken down into small repeatable chunks. Help children to store God’s word in their hearts. I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:105(ESV)

It is a privilege to train our children in the ways of the Lord. It is never too early to start; these five things will shape your child’s future.
