Finally you can buy a Bible at the convenience of your phone by simply dialing *288#

Bible Society of Kenya is launching this USSD platform that will allow low income earners who cannot afford to buy a Bible once to pay in installments.

This target group mostly live in rural areas with no access to digital Bibles and prefer reading in vernacular languages. They also face the challenge of accessibility to well stocked bookshops which are mostly located in major towns. An average Bible has about 1,800 pages and costs Ksh 870 (the cheapest book of its size in the market). However most low income earners struggle to raise Ksh 870 to purchase a Bible.

This move is guided by the fact that Kenya has a high level of mobile phone penetration of about 85% and the usage of the world famous mobile money services including MPESA which stands at over 25 million people. This platform will ensure an increased number of Bible ownership and purchase hence positively transformed lives.

The USSD code can be used by all mobile phone users regardless of the type of device they own as it is SMS – based with no internet requirements.

This platform will also enable users to access other Bible Society of Kenya services including membership registration, donations and BSK programmes support.

Feel free to buy a Bible for a friend, family member, a child in a children’s home or for yourself today!

I am having a problem getting replies to my Emails. I have had a request for 35 Bibles in Ekegusii language. You sent a Word document back that I could not open. I live in Wales in the UK. I now have enough money to buy 40 and leave also a gift to the Kenya Bible Society.
