We thank God for a successful monitoring visit in Nyeri County, Central Kenya which happened between 9th and 11th February 2022.

It is extremely heartwarming to listen and see what God is doing in people through the Audio Bibles given to various individuals. Below are stories of how God is at work through the Gikuyu Talking Bibles in various centres in Nyeri County.

JERIOTH MUTHONI KAMUNDIA, “When I lost my son to Covid in 2020, God used the Talking Bible to comfort me.” Jerioth Kamundia is an 81-year-old lady, a mother of 5. She lives with her 90-year-old husband at Marua village, Nyeri County. Her eyes often tire from reading the print Bible and so she prefers a Talking Bible. She says the beauty of listening to the audio is that she understands everything spoken in her mother language. Her husband keeps her company but sometimes when she is just resting and need someone to talk to her, the audio is her best companion. God speaking to her directly. She easily carries it to the garden and through that, she has attracts passersby to her garden just to fellowship together. Jerioth loves to witness, and Luke 10 is her greatest motivation for reaching out. The audio has developed her depth of God’s knowledge and kept her focused-on God even amidst challenges. In 2020, she lost her son, and the audio was such an encouragement and helped her focus on positive thoughts and encourage herself in the Lord.

RUTH WANJIRA MUCHIRI,“When I was incapacitated, listening to the Gikuyu Talking Bible helped me forget my pain and kept off anxious thoughts.’’ Ruth is a retired nurse. She lives with her husband in Githiru village in Nyeri County. The Talking Bible has been a source of blessing to the couple and especially Ruth. When she just needed hope, God provided through the audio. Through 2019-2021, listening to the audio helped her concentrate on God rather than the illness that had overwhelmed her and the whole family.
Her greatest encouragement through the tough period was periodically listening to the story of Israelites through the desert. The mercies of God were continuously evident though the dark times as they journeyed to Canaan. She resonated with every word in the Scripture as she meditated on it in her sick bed.
After healing, Ruth developed a hunger for hospital ministry and has been reaching to patients through the audio Bible.

JAMES WANG’OMBE KAHINGA ,“This Talking Bible has given me a new stamina of sharing God’s word to my fellow old men who are not able to move from their homes.”  James was born in 1937! A strong bubbly guitarist elderly man married to Lydia for 62 years! They are tea and livestock farmers who live in Kagio-ini area in Nyeri county. James says he was previously forgetting the books of the Bible, but the audio Bible came in 2020 and helped him to quickly remember books and even verses. When he is preaching in home fellowships, he has an easy time just tuning in buttons to the chapter of discussion! He listens to the audio Bible day and night with his wife wherever they are: be it in the tea farm or at home. Sometimes he visits old men like him to listen to the word together and pray. He says despite being unlearned, with time, the Audio Bible has made him look so wise because he speaks the word in prowessness. He has so much assurance from the Word.

MARY WAMBUI MATHENGE, “Every time I listen to the Audio Bible, I hear passages speaking of God’s great power in doing impossible! Trusting God’s Word to change my alcoholic sons” Mary was born in 1934 and she has 6 children, all men, all alcoholics. She often gets sad since she has brought them up in church, but they choose a different path. Every time she listens to the audio Bible, she hears situations when God did the impossible! God changing men! She always hopes that one day, her son’s will turn around! She fully trusts the Lord in this!

OBADIAH NDEGWA NDIRITU “In my loneliness, the Audio Bible has been a great companion and hope giver!” Obadiah means servant of God! Yes, he is! He lives alone in Gatitu area in Central Kenya. His family left him when covid struck Kenya because he lost his job. Since then, he has been quite a loner, but the Talking Bible given to him by Mr Stephen BS Kenya promoter has really helped him occupied with the Word of God. His greatest encouragement has been this,” STAND STRONG AND YOU WILL SEE THE DELIVERANCE OF THE LORD.”

ANN WAKURAYA, “I have never been to school so I have never owned a print Bible since I cannot read. The Gikuyu Talking Bible has been such a gift to me since it continually feed me with God’s word even if I am illiterate.’’

Ann has stayed for 5 years without going to church due to an illness. During this time, the Talking Bible has been of great strength. She has never been to school, so she completely replays on the audio to be fed by God’s Word.

MARGARET WANJIKU MACHECHA,“I no longer get angered easily or hold grudges with people due to constantly listening to God’s Word.”
Granny Maggie, as her neighbors call her is 77 years old. She has been off church for 16 years due to leg problems! During this time, the Talking Bible has imparted in her wisdom of living with other people. Previously she could hold grudges when wronged but the listening to the Gikuyu Talking Bible has changed her! She forgives and let go easily. She is a different person.
