In August 2025, the Bible Society of Kenya (BSK) conducted several trauma healing workshops for teenagers. These trainings were designed to help young people navigate past trauma and find hope and healing through the teachings of God’s Word.

The trainings took place at various locations as follows;

Komotobo Mission Station, Migori County: A teen camp was organized for 26 young men. The sessions provided a safe environment for them to address personal and profound questions about their spiritual and personal growth.

Parklands Northgate Church: We hosted a camp for ex-candidates graduates from July 28th to August 1st, 2025. Attended by 20 participants and 17 graduates, the programme aimed to provide a supportive space for them to heal from past wounds, build resilience, and prepare for their transition into various universities and colleges.

St. Nicholas Children’s Home: Camps were held for both children and teens at the home, with 48 participants attending. The programme was particularly relevant as many of the participants were preparing to go home to their relatives and guardians for the holiday season. During the sessions, the children and teens had the opportunity to share their personal stories and the circumstances that led them to the facility.

PCEA Evergreen Runda Church: In partnership with the church, BSK facilitated a trauma healing camp for teenagers. A total of 78 teens successfully completed a ten-session program and graduated.

Testimonies

“I was preparing to die by suicide the week this camp was held. I thank God for this intervention—it gave me a reason to live again.

“I had just broken up with my girlfriend of four years. I came here full of grief and anger. The affirmation from other participants during the session on moving forward helped me accept the loss and see myself as a person of value.”

“One girl shared about her absent father, who withdrew support from her. At the end of the camp, she was able to forgive and move forward.”

“A girl shared being introduced to her siblings later in life, she prefers living with her mom, and having her dad provide financial needs. She was able to let go of the bitterness she had towards the family.”

“There was also another girl who was very angry at herself, her parents, and said that if she gets pregnant, she will either abort, give birth and kill the baby, or if the baby survives, she must take revenge and make the baby suffer the way she has suffered in her life. We prayed with her; she softened her heart and cried a lot and said she will be willing to try and forgive her past and learn to love, though she has no experience of how true love feels.”
