On March 21st, 2026, the Bible Society of Kenya (BSK) didn’t just host a meeting; it laid the foundation for the next half-decade of its mission, officially launching the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
This milestone marks the Society’s 7th Strategic Plan, an indicator of decades of consistent growth and an unwavering commitment to making the Word of God accessible to all.
The theme of the day was — “God’s Word Open for All”—capturing the heart of this journey. This is both the Society’s conviction and commitment: that every person, regardless of location, language, or circumstance, should have access to the transforming power of God’s Word.
Mrs. Elizabeth Muriuki, the BSK General Secretary, noted that the new strategic plan is BSK’s response to a clear and urgent reality that many still lack adequate access to, and meaningful engagement with, the Holy Scriptures. She added that the plan is a call to action that needs BSK to go further, reach wider, and serve more intentionally.
She reiterated that the centre of this strategy is a strong emphasis on Scripture engagement. “Beyond making the Bible available, we desire to see lives transformed—individuals, families, and communities rooted in God’s Word and living it out daily.” Said Mrs. Muriuki.
Mrs. Muriuki appreciated all the guests who attended the meeting, including Trustees and Council members, staff, members, partners, friends, and donors who were present to witness this special occasion. She noted that their support remains the backbone of every outreach initiative.
She further appreciated the consultants, McSmart Consulting Group, led by Dr. Paul Kamaku and Mr Simon Ndirangu, for their expertise in developing the strategy document that is both practical and forward-looking.
The council Chair, Mr. Sam Abwoga, indicated that the plan focuses on five strategic focus areas that will enhance Translation and Publishing, Distribution and Marketing Scripture Engagement, Institutional Capacity Strengthening, Financial Sustainability and Investment Planning. These efforts are geared towards ensuring that every demographic, from the youngest child to the oldest person in the furthest regions of Kenya and beyond, has a Bible in their hand.
The Chief Guest Speaker of the day was Bishop Jonathan Kabiru, the Presiding Bishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Nairobi Diocese. He lauded BSK leadership and the team for their great work and commitment to Bible work. He preached from Matthew 25:14-30, referring to a master who entrusts wealth (talents) to servants according to their abilities before travelling. He highlighted several qualities from this story.
- The master entrusted the servants with work. God has entrusted BSK with the word of availing the Bible to all people.
- The master needed accountability from the servants. BSK must be accountable for the work they have been entrusted with.
- The master was confident that the servants would execute the assignment with confidence and not fear. The BSK team should execute the plan without fear.
Bishop Kabiru officially dedicated and unveiled the plan in the presence of the BSK leadership and staff to foster a sense of ownership among everyone present.
We are grateful for a successful event and pray that God will grant us wisdom even as we implement this plan. To God be the glory!
