Bible Society of Kenya held its 55th National Annual General Meeting on March 21st, 2026, at ACK St. Paul’s Church in Nairobi and virtually on Zoom.
This was a special day of celebration and thanksgiving for the Lord’s goodness, marking 55 years that the Society has served and shared Scriptures with many people across the Country and beyond.
The event was graced by members from different branches, including Machakos, Bungoma, Kericho, Nairobi, Kakamega, Kisumu, Meru, Kiambu, Kisii, Nyeri and Vihiga, who turned up to attend the event.
The National Annual General Meeting is an annual forum for BSK registered members, where they come together to interact, receive reports on the previous year’s performance, elect new Board members, and get projections on the upcoming plans for the year.
Ven. Canon Charles Kariuki led the devotion. The sermon, themed “God’s word open for all,” was drawn from Colossians 3:16. The Word of God was defined as divine, active, and full of power, serving as the primary medium through which God speaks to His people.
Members were reminded of the vital importance of being rooted in the Scriptures. It was emphasized that the Word of God transforms hearts and lives, restores relationships, and ensures that worship remains pleasing to Him. Referring to James 1:22, the speaker challenged members to be doers of the Word and not merely listeners. Additionally, it was noted that BSK is uniquely mandated to translate the Word of God to ensure its availability to all. The concept of “God’s Word Open for All” signifies that the Gospel is not restricted; rather, it is intended to dwell richly in the hearts of all people to facilitate holistic transformation. In closing, members were challenged to rethink their daily walk and dwell in the Word every day, thereby contributing to making the world a better place.
New Council members were elected to join the dynamic team that steers the mission of the Bible Society of Kenya to greater heights. The Council Chairman, Mr. Sam Abwoga, welcomed Ms Sandra Wazome, a new Council Member. He added that as more Christians join the lively team of members, they will collectively impact the community positively through God’s word.
In the month of February, various branches held their AGMs before the main AGM. Members interacted and reviewed activities of the previous years and discussed plans for 2026. They committed to continue to support the BSK mission through carrying out activities that will enhance the Society’s awareness, implement programmes and mobilize resources for Bible work.
The General Secretary Mrs. Elizabeth Muriuki, appreciated all members, Board, Partners and Staff for their contribution to the growth of the Society and bringing a positive impact to people’s lives through the spreading of God’s Word. She acknowledged and appreciated new members who had joined the Society and presented certificates to them.
In addition, all the staff who had served the Bible Society of Kenya for five years or more were appreciated for their contribution to the Society. They were all awarded a certificate by the Board Chairman Mr. Sam Abwoga.
We thank God for a successful event and look forward availing God’s word to more in the years to come.
